For those of us that incorporate some composite glue on shoeing into our hoofcare practices, I think we all went through growing pains of lost shoes, figuring out glue timing, ruining clothing with globs of glue, gluing ourselves to random things (including the horse)… I’m sure some of you could share some stories!
Because of this learning curve, gluing can be intimidating. I thought it would be a good topic to broach for a podcast episode! One of the most experienced composite glue on shoe farriers is Curtis Burns, creator of the Polyflex horse shoe. He chatted with me about his journey into hoofcare, the creation of the Polyflex shoe, and some of his tips and tricks for a successful glue set up. We also talked about thoroughbred feet and keeping performance horses comfortable and sound!
