When it comes to owning a barefoot horse and wanting to use hoof boots, it can sometimes be either the best thing ever, or your biggest nightmare. Without a lot of experience, fitting hoof boots for riding can be difficult to say the least.
That being said, when you find the right boot fit for your horse, it’s like the stars have aligned- they can do basically anything! So how can we figure out what boot is right for our horses?
I spoke with Sara Hunt, PHCP member, hoofcare provider, and professional hoof boot dealer and fitter, about the differences between various hoof boot brands and how they fit. We chatted a bit about “wonky” hooves, upright feet, underrun heels, therapy boots versus riding boots, and more.
