Sometimes when we are dealing with a tough lameness case, we just want to hear success stories from people who have been there and dealt with the same issues. I know I felt that way before I was in hoofcare and my gelding was lame. I just wanted to know it could get better.
Because we all could use a little hope now and again, we are starting a series of “case study” episodes on the podcast – showcasing individual horses with specific soundness issues, and presenting their story alongside their road to recovery.
To start us off in this series, Frances Hughes, a hoofcare provider based in Australia, chatted with me about her performance horse – a Holsteiner who came down with a severe case of laminitis. Frances talks about how his issues were diagnosed, what management steps she took, and how she got him back to eventing after his issues with laminitis.
