Managing Foal Feet

As hoofcare providers, some of us have the privilege to work on foal hooves and watch them grow the years. Many of us probably don’t think much of it, but what we do to their feet can hugely influence how that horse develops in conformation and movement.

I reached out to Kirsten Proctor, a hoofcare provider based out of upstate NY, who has a passion for working on foals (and works on hundreds per year!). I asked her about how soon and how often we should be scheduling foal hoofcare, how to handle them safely, and how to make knowledgeable trimming choices to positively effect their development.
